Structured Literacy Series for Students with Disabilities
This presentation provides “getting started” ideas for new special education teachers for establishing rapport in the classroom, establishing classroom management, and making student engagement a priority. An explanation of the importance of a well-managed classroom and its ties to reading success will be given.
Goal: To build capacity and provide knowledge for novice special education teachers to start the new year. Outcome: To demonstrate the use of these ideas for creating a positive environment in the classroom that maximizes learning and student engagement.
