Using Skills-Based Instruction to Enhance Health Instruction

Intended Audience: Elementary Teachers, High School Teachers, Middle School Teachers

This full-day workshop offers an interactive and participant-focused introduction to skills-based health education. The primary objective of this workshop is to teach participants the qualities of effective health education and the strategies that can be used to help students develop the skills and knowledge required to make healthy choices and informed decisions. The activities in this workshop include exploring the health standards, creating a sample unit planning tool using backward design, and developing a mini-unit that can be used in instruction. NOTE: Laptops or workstations are required.
