The purpose of this guidance is to summarize the current state and federal laws, regulations, and best practices for protecting and sharing personally identifiable information of students and families among Georgia LEAs, DJJ, DHS, DFCS, and DoDEA, including interactions with law enforcement and judicial entities.
Additionally, this guidance provides local school systems and law enforcement officials with proposed terms and conditions that address how student records, student data, and student personally identifiable information may be shared.
