The purpose of this guidance is to support districts, schools, educators, students, and families in understanding the intent and implementation of the Math Matters Act (House Bill 1030, 2026), that goes into effect starting with the 2027-2028 school year. This guidance provides clarity on requirements related to mathematics instructional time, access to advanced mathematics courses, student supports, and educator preparation. It also outlines how Georgia’s K-12 Mathematics Standards support high-quality, evidence-based instruction and open-access pathways that promote rigorous mathematics learning for all students across the K-12 continuum.
