In this workshop, we’ll tackle the ever-present elephant in the fine arts classroom: BEHAVIOR! We discuss reasonings behind negative student behaviors, learn ways to develop a positive classroom environment, pinpoint common “problem” behaviors, learn de-escalation strategies, and take a look at effective behavioral and classroom management strategies that fine arts educators can incorporate into their teaching practices—no matter what grade level or content area—to prevent or minimize behavior disruptions during teaching and learning within their classrooms and to promote positive behavioral change in the music classroom!
