The Computer Science team is available to offer a variety of highly engaging, customized sessions to meet the needs of your teachers in various ways. We offer the following topics for in-person training.
Integrating Computer Science in K-5 Education: This professional development session equips educators with strategies and resources to integrate computer science into K-5 classrooms through engaging, age-appropriate activities. Participants explore interdisciplinary connections and hands-on tools to foster computational thinking and problem-solving in young learners.
How to Empower, Engage, and Excel through Physical Computing Devices: This professional development session explores how physical computing devices can empower and engage students in hands-on, interactive learning. Participants discover strategies to enhance problem-solving and creativity while integrating coding and engineering concepts into the curriculum.
Harnessing GaDOE Inspire for K-5 Computer Science Mastery: This professional development session guides educators in leveraging GaDOE Inspire to support primary computer science instruction. Participants explore curated resources and strategies to enhance student engagement, computational thinking, and mastery of foundational computer science concepts.
Harnessing GaDOE Inspire for 6-12 Computer Science Mastery: This professional development session guides educators in leveraging GaDOE Inspire to support secondary computer science instruction. Participants explore curated resources and strategies to enhance student engagement, computational thinking, and mastery of foundational computer science concepts.
The Odyssey of AI in K12 Education and the Quest for Tech-Savvy Scholars (full day): This professional development session explores the evolving role of AI in K-12 education and the importance of AI literacy for students. Participants examine lesson plans, practical applications, and ethical considerations to integrate AI concepts into their teaching, preparing students to engage with emerging technology.
Level Up Learning: Gamifying Computational Thinking for K-2 Superstars (full day): This full-day professional development session explores how to gamify computational thinking for K-2 students using engaging, age-appropriate tools like Gasha Go! World. Participants discover hands-on activities, game-based strategies, and interactive lesson plans that build foundational coding and problem-solving skills while making learning fun and accessible for young learners.
Cracking the Code: Instructional Strategies for Engaging Computer Science: This professional development session focuses on high-quality instructional strategies for engaging students in computer science through interactive and hands-on learning experiences. Participants explore effective techniques, lesson plans, and tools to teach foundational coding, computational thinking, and problem-solving, sparking curiosity and fostering creativity in learners.
PLEASE NOTE: For these workshops, the minimum number of participants is 10. Laptops or devices with a workstation are REQUIRED.
