Connecting the Dots (and the Drafts)—Pre-Planning Virtual ELA Sessions
July 28 - July 29

Description:
Jump-start the 2026-27 school year with engaging professional learning sessions designed to spark ideas, build momentum, and equip educators with practical strategies to launch strong writing instruction from day one.
A K-5 writing session will be offered on July 28 in the morning from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. A 6-12 writing session will be offered on the morning of July 29 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will deepen their understanding of writing instruction aligned to Georgia’s K-12 ELA Standards for their selected grade band. Educators will examine key writing research, explore strategies for integrating reading and writing, and design authentic writing tasks that strategically apply standards across domains. Through collaborative activities and real classroom examples, participants will experiment with instructional strategies, feedback structures, and writing processes that support student learning and engagement.
Each session requires separate registration. Participants are asked to register individually to fully engage with session activities and materials. Those coordinating group participation should indicate that information on the registration form.
