DHH Summer Learning Series

Description:
DHH Summer Learning Series
The DHH Summer Learning Series invites professionals who support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing to reflect, learn, plan, and prepare for the upcoming school year through accessible, evidence-based professional learning focused on language and literacy development.
The series consists of four self-paced asynchronous learning modules designed to strengthen literacy-focused instructional practices and support meaningful access to language, reading, writing, and classroom learning for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Participants will explore how learner profiles, instructional access, accommodations, modifications, language development, and evidence-based instructional strategies influence literacy outcomes across educational settings.
Through practical examples, case studies, reflection questions, and participation guides, educators will have opportunities to analyze instructional decision-making and thoughtfully plan for implementation in the coming school year. The series is designed to support real-world application while encouraging participants to reflect on student needs, communication access, and literacy-centered instruction.
Topics include:
• Science of reading for DHH learners
• Systematic language instruction for students with language delays
• Writing in a meaningful context for DHH learners
• Language at home for DHH children ages birth to 5
Participants may complete modules at their own pace throughout the summer. However, all four modules must be completed in order to receive the full 0.5 CEUs associated with the series.
