This recorded session designed to support social studies and ELA teachers in grades 4-12 was presented on September 3, 2025. Dr. Laurie Lee and Dr. Kevin Smith from the Florida Center for Reading Research reviewed and discussed the recommendations and evidence levels in the IES practice guides, Teaching Secondary Students to Write Effectively and Improving Adolescent Literacy: Effective Classroom and Intervention Practices. This session focuses on engaging with text through text coding and directed note-taking, sharing practical examples to showcase evidence-based approaches.
