Georgia's Mathematics Matters Act (HB 1030): Preparing for Implementation

Beginning with the 2027-28 school year, Georgia’s Mathematics Matters Act (HB 1030) introduces changes to mathematics instruction and establishes requirements for the establishment of advanced mathematics pathways. This session will examine the key requirements of HB 1030, including evidence-based mathematics instruction, the Four Strands of Mathematical Proficiency, instructional time requirements, advanced mathematic pathways, automatic enrollment, student supports, and family communication. Participants will explore the Georgia Department of Education’s implementation guidance and leave with an understanding of the law and practical next steps to support successful local planning and implementation.
