Integrating Reading & Writing for Secondary
Recorded Webinar

Duration: 30 minutes
Intended Audience: Gifted and Talented Teachers, High School Teachers, Instructional Coaches/Coordinators, Librarians/Media Specialists, Special Education Teachers
Shervette Miller-Payton, ELA Virtual Learning Community leader and K-12 ELA Curriculum Coordinator for the Griffin-Spalding School System, focuses on strategies for integrating reading and writing. Drawing on the evidence base from the “IES Practice Guide: Teaching Secondary Students to Write Effectively,” Shervette delves into explaining this evidence-based practice. She shares several anecdotes, models the strategy, and provides practical resources for teachers.
Integrating reading and writing instruction helps us build stronger readers and stronger writers; a symbiotic relationship exists between the two skill sets. For more information, join the 9-10 ELA Virtual Learning Community in GaDOE Community! While these recorded webinars introduce each evidence-based or high-leverage practice, the GaDOE Community groups provide the opportunity for engagement with your colleagues across the state for a deeper dive and the exchange of existing resources.
