Introduction to Building Formative Science Assessments
June 8 - June 25

Description:
Session 1: Explore Three-Dimensional Science Basics
Join the GaDOE science team to explore the foundational principles of three-dimensional science instruction, integrating Science and Engineering Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Disciplinary Core Ideas, as outlined in the Science Georgia Standards of Excellence. Participants will explore how these dimensions inform the development of high-quality instruction and assessment.
Session 2: Explore How Various Assessments Support Science Learning
Join the GaDOE science team to examine the different types of assessments and their uses in the science classroom. Participants will examine a formative assessment, discuss how feedback can improve student performance, and review resources available to support classroom instruction.
Session 3: Planning for a Standard and Phenomenon
Join the GaDOE science team to examine how to deconstruct a standard and identify key components to design an assessment. Participants will analyze how phenomena selected for instruction differ from those chosen for assessment.
Session 4: Developing a Standard-Aligned Task
Join the GaDOE science team to review the fundamentals of three-dimensional assessment. This session outlines the requirements for developing a three-dimensional, standard-aligned assessment.
