Learning Through Assistive Technology: Legal Guidance, Myths, and Resources

Assistive technology readily transforms learning for students with disabilities, yet barriers to access and implementation persist. This session explores the latest Individuals with Disabilities Education Act guidance from the U.S. Department of Education. Content includes legal requirements, as well as a review of common myths and facts that influence appropriate assistive technology services in public schools. Whether participants are new to assistive technology or seeking to deepen their understanding, this session provides ready-to-use information, highlights real-world examples, and identifies resources that support increased student independence in the educational curriculum and in life beyond school.
