MTSS is often seen as a framework for elementary settings and not high school. But there is strong evidence that MTSS implementation in high school is worthwhile as it leads to improved student outcomes, decreased behavior incidents, and increased graduation rates.
In this first session of a three-part series, Becky Wright and Aimee Hayes take a closer look at identifying early warning indicators and selecting appropriate interventions for high school students. Participants will learn what a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) looks like in secondary settings and how it is different from implementation in elementary settings; identify risk indicators based on Early Warning System data; identify key considerations when selecting interventions; and explore tools for evaluating and selecting interventions.
