Multi-Level Prevention System, an essential component of Georgia’s MTSS, includes three levels of prevention. With a robust Tier I system in place, students identified through screening as underperforming, at-risk for poor learning/behavior outcomes, or in need of acceleration/enrichment are supported by targeted evidence-based interventions at the Tier II level. Students not responding to the primary and secondary levels of prevention are then supported with evidence-based intensive intervention that is individualized based on student need.
In this recorded session, MTSS Regional Coaches Christy Jones and Andrea Eller discuss the focus, instruction, setting, and assessments associated with Tier II and Tier III instruction; the effectiveness of the secondary level of prevention; intensifying evidence-based interventions used at Tier II to provide Tier III supports; and identifying elements of implementation fidelity.
