Research and Practical Strategies to Support K-12 Students as They Navigate Digital and Social Media
This session provides Georgia K-12 educators with an updated, research-grounded look at social media’s role in youth development and mental health. Participants examine the current narrative around social media and youth well-being, review emerging research linking social media use to mental health outcomes, and explore practical applications of the American Academy of Pediatrics Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health’s developmentally centered framework in K-12 settings. The session concludes with practical resources and tools that educators can use to promote age-appropriate and responsible digital engagement for K-12 students.
