Research and Practical Strategies to Support K-12 Students as They Navigate Digital and Social Media
This session provides Georgia K-12 educators with an updated, research-based examination of social media’s role in youth development and mental health. Participants will explore current perspectives on social media and youth wellbeing, review emerging research on the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes, and examine practical applications of the American Academy of Pediatrics Center of Excellence on Social Media and Youth Mental Health’s developmentally centered framework in K-12 settings. The session will conclude with practical resources and tools educators can use to promote age-appropriate, responsible digital engagement among K-12 students.
