School Nutrition Seamless Summer Option Panel Discussion

Participants learn to evaluate the need in their community and tailor their Seamless Summer Option (SSO) program to fill those gaps, plan sites, and verify eligibility, including both area and rural non-congregate eligibility. They also learn to plan a menu to optimize food quality, including seasonally available foods and strategies to maintain quality while transporting. Additionally, they learn to create a staffing plan to train staff and volunteers to ensure program compliance and food safety. Learn to advertise the availability of your SSO program throughout the community. The discussion panel is led by Program Manager, Christina Nichols, with the Coordinated Support and Services team. She is joined by local school nutrition directors, Dawn Lewis, Randal Dodson, Meredith Potter, and Abby Rowland. Additional presenters include Compliance Specialists, Trae Cown, Sarah Combs, Stephanie Taylor, and Lydia Martin.
