Vaping in Schools: Using Discipline Data to Drive Prevention and Action
November 5 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Description:
As part of the GaDOE Office of Whole Child Supports’ Student Services Leadership Series, this webinar will focus on vaping trends in Georgia schools, using three years of statewide discipline data to highlight patterns, concerns, and implications for districts. Participants will deepen their understanding of the state-reportable discipline code for vaping, including when and how it should be applied with consistency and accuracy.
Building on this foundation, presenters will explore how districts and schools can use their multi-tiered system of supports to move beyond discipline alone, leveraging prevention, early intervention, and targeted supports to reduce vaping and improve student outcomes. The session will highlight practical examples of strategies and resources that schools awarded vaping grants last school year chose to prioritize.
Learning Objectives:
– Understand the purpose, parameters, and appropriate use of the vaping discipline code.
– Use the statewide model to analyze data and drill down into district- and school-level trends.
– Consider prevention and intervention strategies that address vaping and improve student outcomes.
