Description:
In this session, participants explore the role of literacy in supporting student learning and sensemaking in the science classroom. The recording examines the differences between content literacy and disciplinary literacy, with a focus on how scientists read, write, communicate, and use evidence. Participants learn strategies for incorporating reading and writing experiences that deepen scientific understanding while maintaining the integrity of science instruction. The session also highlights the use of multimodal texts and other instructional resources to support student engagement, access, and success in science learning.
